Halloween has always been a time for thrills, chills, and spine-tingling adventures, and this year on Billionaire Island, we wanted to push the boundaries of fear and excitement with a special event on our ARK: Survival Ascended server. As we prepared for the spooky season, the team set out to create a unique, immersive quest that would challenge our survivors while paying tribute to a modern horror classic—Evil Dead Rise.

The Inspiration

When it came time to brainstorm ideas for this year’s Halloween event, the terrifying imagery from Evil Dead Rise immediately stood out. The movie is known for its grotesque and chilling atmosphere, filled with demonic possessions, terrifying visuals, and supernatural horror. One particularly eerie scene—featuring a twisted skeletal figure—felt like the perfect inspiration for something we could bring to life on Billionaire Island.

We wanted to recreate that unsettling feeling, but within the Aberration map of ARK, which itself is a mysterious and dangerous environment. The idea was to blend the essence of the movie’s supernatural horror with the rugged survival elements of ARK, delivering an unforgettable experience to our players.

Crafting the Quest

Our team dove into Aberration, searching for a location that could match the creepy, haunting vibe of Evil Dead Rise. Around 76.0 latitude, 30.0 longitude, we found the perfect spot—a towering Element Waterfall nestled in a tall, silo-like chamber. The area already felt eerie, with its glowing element and ominous atmosphere. But it needed more—a hidden secret, something that could make players’ hearts race.

The quest took shape from there. Players would need to find this hidden chamber by breaking through rocks (a little trick we picked up from the ARK community on Reddit!). The sense of discovery would be heightened by the fact that only a pickaxe could reveal the entrance—ensuring that survivors who tried and failed would be itching to get it right on their second attempt.

Once inside, players would have to venture deeper, unlocking a second hidden chamber by breaking the rocks in the floor. The reward? A grotesque skeletal creature with spider-like limbs, positioned just like the horrifying figure in Evil Dead Rise. It would be the ultimate Halloween find—a creature straight out of a nightmare.

Making It Interactive

For our Billionaire Island Halloween Event, we wanted the quest to be more than just about finding the creature. It’s also about claiming your bravery in the face of fear. That’s why players are required to set up a teleporter once they find the skeleton, marking the location as their own, and take a photo with the creature as proof of their discovery.

This interactivity not only deepens the immersion but also adds an element of competition—who will find the spot first, and who will have the best photo to share with the community? We made sure to tie this into the Evil Dead Rise theme by encouraging survivors to think of themselves as the last line of defense against the island's dark forces.

A Chilling Tribute

At its heart, this event is a tribute to the horror genre, blending ARK: Survival Ascended’s survival mechanics with the supernatural terror of Evil Dead Rise. It’s a celebration of Halloween that allows players to face their fears, explore hidden parts of Aberration, and experience a new level of immersion within the game.

What makes this quest special is the way it builds suspense, with each layer of the adventure revealing something more unsettling than the last. From the moment players step into the Element Waterfall’s chamber to the final reveal of the skeleton, the event is designed to keep everyone on the edge of their seat.
